On April 6, we celebrated our first ParKit deployment of 2024! The day was chilly, so ParKit team members stayed warm by purchasing fuzzy Urban Outfitters hats (pictured) and playing rigorous games of corn hole. We chose to deploy the ParKit in the small park outside First Churches because the city is reimagining this area as part of Picture Main Street but has yet to finalize the designs. We collected input on what the public hopes this park might look like after its redesign. We gathered ideas in the form of sticky notes on a large printable map of the park. Some stellar ideas included: a bubble fountain, a zipline, and a clothing-optional zone. Our favorite part of the day was when one passerby noted loudly, “Man, you must be bored!” to Claire and Kaila, who were playing connect four.
